The 2010 - 2011 Swamp Buggy Queen: Christa Jo Roberts
Christa Jo Roberts is a 17 year old Senior at Palmetto Ridge High School. Christa has Academic Letters for her Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years. She is enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program, taking Introduction to Education this semester and Teaching Diverse Populations at Edison State College. Christa plans to firther her education by going to the University of South Florida majoring in Bio-Medical Sciences, and pursuing a Medical Degree to become a Dermatologist.
Christa took the volunteer class last year and acquired 150 hours of volunteer service working with and helping middle and elementary school teachers. She also participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in March 2010.
Christa at the age of 2 began dance and was involved in dance for 12 years. At the age of 5 she began cheerleading and has been cheering ever since , all the way through High School. She loves cheerleading, dancing, running, going to the beach, reading and hanging out with her family and friends.
Chrisa says she wants to be a role model for all young women, showing them how to be confident, independent and successful while encouraging them to pursue their dreams and aspirations of becoming whatever they want to be (hopefully a future Swamp Buggy Queen). Christa has said that she is sure she will enjoy every minute of jumping into the "Sippy" Hole with the winner at the end of the Big Feature on race Sunday.
