FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything you need to know before your visit to Florida Sports Park. Answers for race fans, first-timers, and future enthusiasts alike.

General Questions

What are the Swamp Buggy Races?

Born in 1949 as a way for hunters to test their custom-built rigs, the Swamp Buggy Races are now a world-famous motorsport held at the Florida Sports Park in Naples, FL. Drivers race specialized vehicles through the “Mile O’ Mud”—a track covered in several feet of swamp water and thick mud with a hard-packed bottom.

When is the racing season?

Races are held at the beginning of the calendar year in January, February, and April.

  • The Winter Classic (January/February)
  • The World Finals (April)
  • Note: Please check our [Schedule Page] for specific dates. All dates are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Where are the races held?

All races take place at the Florida Sports Park, located at 8520 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, FL 34114. You can reach the office at 239-774-2701.

Attending the Races

What should I wear?

Expect to get a little “swampy!” While the grandstands are separated from the track, the roar of the engines and the Florida sun are part of the experience. We recommend:

  • Casual, comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dusty.
  • Sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat.
  • Ear protection (it gets loud!).

Is it family-friendly?

Absolutely! The Swamp Buggy Races are a deep-rooted community tradition where you’ll see three generations of families sitting together in the stands. It is a gritty, high-octane motorsport with a classic Florida personality—we’re loud, we’re muddy, and we’re a little bit wild!

What are the “Sippy” Holes?

Kids absolutely love the spectacle of watching specialized Jeeps vanish into the deep mud of the “Sippy” holes. Stick around until the end of the day to witness the Queen’s traditional mud-bath—it’s a memory you won’t want to miss!

What are the ticket prices?

  • Adults: $30
  • Kids (Ages 5-12): $10
  • Kids (Ages 4 and under): FREE
  • VIP: $130
  • Please note: This is a rain or shine event. No refunds are provided.

What time should I arrive and how long does it last?

We recommend arriving when the box office opens to avoid traffic and catch the morning “test and tune”. The event typically lasts 3 to 3.5 hours, depending on mechanical factors.

Can I bring my own chair?

No chairs are permitted in the grandstand area to keep walkways clear per Fire Marshal regulations. However, stadium seats or cushions for the bleachers are permitted and encouraged.

Are animals allowed?

Only individually trained service dogs are permitted. Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times and must remain under the control of the handler. Emotional support animals do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

Food & Fuel

What’s on the menu?

Forget the standard “hot dogs and chips”—the Florida Sports Park features a massive lineup of authentic Florida-themed food trucks that are as much an attraction as the races themselves.

Expect a high-octane culinary experience featuring:

  • Signature Gator Bites: Deep-fried and seasoned to perfection (a swamp-side must-have!).
  • Fresh Gulf Seafood: From blackened fish tacos to shrimp po’ boys.
  • Southern Comfort: Smoked BBQ pulled pork, brisket, and “swamp-style” boiled peanuts.
  • Cool Treats: Fresh-squeezed lemonade and local shave ice to beat the Florida heat.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Because we host such a spectacular variety of local vendors, outside food, drinks, and coolers are not permitted inside inside the grandstand area. Supporting our food trucks helps keep the local small business community thriving!

Is alcohol served?

Yes! We have dedicated beverage stations provided by JJ Taylor featuring the Coors family of products (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

The “Swamp Buggy Queen” Tradition

A tradition since the first Queen was crowned in 1950! At the end of the final race, the winner (the “Swamp Buggy King”) and the newly crowned Swamp Buggy Queen celebrate by jumping into the mud together in their formal attire. It’s a must-see event finale!
